These landscapes are all taken from the windows of jet planes. I always sit by the window, to enjoy the constantly changing panorama of where we are. Thousands of feet up in the air, the scene below seems to move slowly and peacefully, unfurling like a scroll, with a slower, longer sense of time.
The act of flying is filled with excitement and anticipation. It implies a journey filled with new sensations and experiences. Up in the air, no longer grounded to our familiar habits and surroundings, we see everything freshly and from a new perspective. We look down on the clouds with a God-like gaze. The ground may be laid out like a patterned quilt. Or sometimes, small land configurations burst into view from between the cloud layers, other times they are obscured by mist or cloud.
